Khan-Tengri [Mountain] (English spelling)

Japanese: ハン･テングリ[山]（英語表記）Khan‐Tengri

It is a high peak in the eastern central part of the Tianshan Mountains, rising on the watershed that forms the border between Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. The border with China is about 10 km to the east. It is 6,995 m above sea level. Its four walls have been eroded by ice, and the summit is at the top of a steep slope that resembles a Matterhorn, forming a square pyramid or prism. This part of the peak is made of metamorphosed limestone, i.e. marble. It is supported by more than 2,500 km2 of glaciers, including the Inuirichek Glacier (59.5 km long), the largest glacier in the Tianshan Mountains.

中央アジア，キルギス，カザフスタン両共和国の境界をなす分水嶺上にそびえ，天山山脈中央部東寄りにある高峰。中国国境は東およそ10kmにある。標高6995m。四壁に氷食をうけてマッターホルンのような四角錐ないし四角柱の急斜面の上に頂上がある。この部分は変成をうけた石灰岩，すなわち大理石質のピークである。2500km2以上の氷河を懸けており，天山山脈最大のイヌイリチェク氷河(長さ59.5km)もここにある。
