A type of kariginu worn by male nobles from the Heian period onwards. It was called hanjiri because the back hem (hips) was shorter than that of normal kariginu. In the early modern period, it became a decorative garment worn by princes and children of the noble families during ceremonies, and the fabric was said to be double-layered fabric for those of the Sekke and above, and floating fabric for those of the Seika family. In addition to raw fabric, kenmonsha was also used in the summer. A twisted string was passed through the cuffs and then shaped into tweezers or sewn in an abalone knot, and chrysanthemum stitching was also added inside. With the half-shiri costume, a sashi-nuki (thin sleeve) was worn, or a saibari (front-attached) ooguchi-bakama (large-mouthed hakama), a stiff white hakama made from a thick weft thread on the front fabric.
