Valentine is a holiday for the Christian saint Valentine (the English pronunciation of Valentine). It is held on February 14th. There are two saints with the same name (and the same holiday) who were both martyred in the late 3rd century, and there is also said to have been another monk whose whereabouts are unknown, so it is unclear which person it is named after. Today, it is known mainly in the UK and the US as a day when lovers exchange Valentine cards and gifts, and in Japan, it is especially popular for women to profess their love by giving chocolates. キリスト教の聖人ウァレンティヌスValentinus(バレンタインはその英語読み)の祝日。
