<br /> A group of ancient tombs in Mineyama-cho, Muromachi, Miyawaki-cho, and other areas of Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. Numerous piled stone mounds and mounded earth mounds are scattered along the ridgeline of Ishizuo Mountain, which is located southwest of downtown Takamatsu and is about 230 meters above sea level. The shapes are diverse, including keyhole-shaped tombs such as Kitaotsuka Tomb No. 1, 2, and 3, Ishifunezuka, Kozuka, Himezuka, and Ishizuo Mountain Tomb No. 9, as well as the two medium-sized tombs of Nekozuka and Kagamizuka, and the Tsuruo Shrine Tomb No. 4 (a rice scoop-shaped keyhole-shaped tomb thought to be the oldest tomb in Kagawa Prefecture) on the southeastern ridge. Nekozuka Tomb is the largest of the group, with a total length of about 96 meters and a height of 5 meters, and along with Kagamizuka Tomb, it has a unique shape that resembles a keyhole-shaped tomb with two medium-sized tombs, with another square tomb attached. Additionally, numerous round mounded earth tombs with stone interiors, including piled-stone tombs and tunnel-type stone chambers from the late Kofun period, are found on the ridge of Mt. Saihoji, Suribachidani, and Mt. Joganji. The group of tombs contains a variety of tombs from the early to late Kofun period, making it a valuable archaeological site for the study of Kofun culture along the Seto Inland Sea coast. Ishifunezuka Tomb was designated a national historic site in 1934 (Showa 9), but in 1985 (Showa 60) the numerous tombs on the mountaintop were designated as well, changing the name to Ishizuoyama Tomb Group, and in 1989 (Heisei 1) Tsuruo Shrine Tomb No. 4 was added. The group of tombs has been developed into a hiking trail. It is about a 15-minute drive from Takamatsu Station on the JR Yosan Line and other lines.

香川県高松市峰山町・室町・宮脇町ほかにある古墳群。高松市中心街の南西に位置する標高230mほどの石清尾山山頂の稜線上には、数多くの積み石塚や盛り土墳が点在している。北大塚1・2・3号墳、石船塚、小塚、姫塚、石清尾山9号墳などの前方後円墳、猫塚、鏡塚の双方中円墳、さらに東南の尾根にある鶴尾神社4号墳（香川県最古の古墳とみられる、しゃもじ形の前方後円墳）など、形態も多様である。猫塚古墳は古墳群のなかでは最大規模で全長約96m、高さ5mあり、鏡塚古墳とともに双方中円墳という前方後円墳にもうひとつ方墳をつけたような特異な形をしている。また、西方寺山尾根・摺鉢谷・浄願寺山には、積み石塚と古墳時代後期の横穴式石室など内部が石組みの多数の盛り土円墳が分布する。古墳群は古墳時代前期から後期にわたる多様な古墳を有しており、瀬戸内海沿岸地方における古墳文化の研究に学術上貴重な遺跡群である。1934年（昭和9）に石船塚古墳が国の史跡に指定されていたが、1985年（昭和60）に山頂にある多数の古墳を一括して追加指定し、石清尾山古墳群と名称変更され、1989年（平成1）に鶴尾神社4号墳が追加指定された。古墳群はハイキングコースとして整備されている。JR予讃線ほか高松駅から車で約15分。
