YKK Corp. - YKK
A fastener and aluminum building materials company. In 1934, Yoshida Tadao founded San-Esu Shokai, a fastener manufacturer, which changed its name to Yoshida Kogyosho in 1938. In 1941, the company changed its trademark to YKK, in 1945 it changed its name to Yoshida Kogyo, and in 1994 it changed its name to its current one. With an integrated production system from raw materials to finished products, the company has an overwhelming share of the market for fasteners and aluminum building materials. It operates in 60 countries around the world, including Japan. The head office is in Tokyo, with factories in Toyama, Hokkaido, Miyagi, etc. Capital in 2011 was 11.9 billion yen, and sales for the fiscal year ending March 2011 were 544.9 billion yen. Sales breakdown (%) is as follows: fastenings 42, building materials 57, other 1.
