The first Dutch-Japanese dictionary published in the late Edo period Published in Edo in 1796. There are two versions, a 13-volume version and a 27-volume version. It was translated by Inamura Sanpaku with the help of Dutch interpreter Ishii Kouemon and others, based on the Dutch bookseller Halma's Dutch-French Dictionary. It contains approximately 80,000 words. In Nagasaki, the head of the Dutch trading post, Zoof, also compiled a more detailed Dutch-Japanese dictionary from the same Dutch-French dictionary, so to distinguish between the two, the former is called "Edo Haruma" and the latter "Zoof Haruma."
