Harima Plain

Japanese: 播磨平野 - はりまへいや
Harima Plain
A plain in the southwest of Hyogo Prefecture facing the Harima Nada Sea. It is also known as the Himeji Plain. It is a complex delta plain formed when the submerged coastline around the Chugoku Mountains was filled in by sediment carried by the Kakogawa, Ichikawa, and Ibogawa rivers. The eastern part has long been known as a grain-producing region, and the western coast as a salt field, but it has now developed into an industrial area. The center is Himeji City.
