Trade theory is a branch of international economic theory that studies how the structure of each country's current transactions (the buying and selling of goods and services and the transfer of income during a certain period of time) is determined and what welfare economic significance it has, assuming that the balance of payments, especially the current account, is maintained. In contrast, how the balance of payments is achieved is a research topic in international finance theory, another branch of international economic theory. This division between trade theory and finance theory is often called the "dichotomy" of international economics. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
