A former town in Naka District, eastern Tokushima Prefecture. Located on the north bank of the Naka River, between Komatsushima City and Anan City, the Mugi Line passes through the main settlements along the Tosa Kaido. It has developed as a commercial town since ancient times. Furusho in the south is a thriving timber collection and distribution and woodworking industry. 徳島県東部，那賀郡の旧町。那賀川の北岸，小松島市と阿南市の間に位置し，土佐街道に沿う主集落に牟岐(むぎ)線が通じる。古くから商業の町として発達。南部の古庄は木材の集散と木工業が盛んである。2006年３月那賀郡那賀川町と阿南市へ編入。8.52km2。１万2300人（2003）。
