Hanaichimonme

Japanese: はないちもんめ

A type of children's game. Two pairs of players line up facing each other in a row and walk back and forth while singing a cheery chant. Each pair chooses one of the other players, and the loser in rock-paper-scissors is taken by the other and incorporated into the game. The game ends when one pair is left alone. The song varies depending on the region, but one example goes like this: "Hanaichimonme, I'm happy to win, Hanaichimonme, I'm frustrated to lose, Hanaichimonme, I want that girl, I don't know what to do with that girl..."

子どもの遊戯の一種。横に一列に並んで向かい合った2組が，はやしことばを歌いながら前後に歩き，互いに相手の1人を指名し，じゃんけんで負けたものが相手に取られて組み入れられ，いずれかの組がいなくなれば終わる。歌は地方によって異なるが，一例をあげれば〈勝ってうれしいはないちもんめ　負けてくやしいはないちもんめ　あかさとまとめてはないちもんめ　ふるさとまとめてはないちもんめ　あの子がほしい　あの子じゃわからん……〉。
