Oxazole - Oxazole (English spelling)

A general term for five-membered heteroaromatic ring compounds with one oxygen atom and one nitrogen atom in the ring. There are two isomers, 1,3-oxazole and 1,2-oxazole, the latter of which is often called isoxazole, and when simply called oxazole, it refers to 1,3-oxazole. This compound is obtained by decarboxylation of 1,3-oxazole-4-carboxylic acid. It is a colorless liquid with a foul odor similar to pyridine, and is volatile. It is miscible with water and is weakly basic.

環内に酸素と窒素各1原子ずつをもつ5員環複素芳香族化合物の総称。1,3-オキサゾールと1,2-オキサゾールの2種類の異性体があるが、後者はイソオキサゾールの別名でよばれることが多く、単にオキサゾールというときは1,3-オキサゾールをさす。この化合物は1,3-オキサゾール-4-カルボン酸の脱炭酸により得られる。無色のピリジンに似た悪臭をもつ液体で揮発性がある。水と混じり合い、弱い塩基性を示す。
