Illyrian Movement - Illyrian Movement

Japanese: イリュリア運動 - イリュリアうんどう

A nationalist and ethnic revival movement that took place among the Croats in Yugoslavia in the 1830s and 40s. The name was used because at the time the South Slavs were thought to be descendants of the Illyrians. The rise of commerce and the rise of the intelligentsia during the transition from the feudal to the capitalist era are thought to be the background to the movement's emergence, but the ideas spread by the French Revolution and the Pan-Slavism advocated by Slovaks such as J. Kollár and Šafálik were what prompted the movement.

ユーゴスラビア，クロアチア人の間で行われた1830,40年代の民族主義運動，民族再生運動。当時南スラブ人はイリュリア人の後裔と考えられていたため，この名が用いられた。封建時代から資本主義時代への移行期における商業の隆盛と，インテリゲンチャの増大が背景として考えられるが，運動の発生をうながしたのはフランス革命が広めた諸理念と，スロバキア人J.コラールやシャファーリクなどが唱えていたパン･スラブ主義である。
