A device used in blasting operations to send an electric current through an electric detonator attached to explosives buried in rocks, etc., to detonate them. An electric detonator contains a platinum resistance wire of about 1 Ω inside, and it is usually heated to red-hot by passing an electric current of 1 A through it to detonate it. The capacity is indicated by the number of detonators it can detonate, such as 30, 50, or 100. Some have a built-in generator that generates electricity manually, while others use a built-in battery to charge a capacitor and then discharge it. They are designed to operate safely and reliably, and more sophisticated ones incorporating electronic circuits have recently been made.
