August 1st Declaration (English)

Japanese: 八･一宣言 - はちいちせんげん（英語表記）Bā yī xuān yán

This refers to the "Message to All Compatriots for Resisting Japan and Saving the Nation," published on August 1, 1935 in the name of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese Soviet Government. It stated that in order to resist Japan and save the country, all parties, factions, and military forces should set aside all ties and unite, and first stop the civil war, and that the CCP was ready to enter into negotiations immediately with the National Defense Government, which would serve as the provisional leadership body for the resistance to Japan, and to establish an anti-Japanese allied army. It was published by the Comintern on behalf of the CCP during the Long March, and became the starting point of the anti-Japanese national united front. War of Resistance against Japan [Ono Shinji]
