[machine]
The university brand of Shiga University of Medical Science (Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture).
A device that safely decomposes medical waste chemically. Medical waste such as gauze and syringes that pose a risk of infection are disposed of by incineration or landfilling, but many problems have been pointed out, such as rising disposal costs, a lack of landfill sites, and the resulting illegal dumping. Professor Toru Tani has developed a device that uses the catalytic reaction of heated titanium oxide to decompose and detoxify medical waste into water and carbon dioxide gas in collaboration with Kusatsu Denki Co., Ltd. (Kusatsu City). Compared to conventional disposal methods, it is environmentally friendly and can be operated with a small electricity bill, as it reduces dioxin and CO2 emissions. It has a monthly processing capacity of 10 tons and reduces CO2 emissions by 19 to 45 tons per year. It is handled by Kusatsu Denki Co., Ltd. "Pacion" was registered as a trademark (No. 5119369) in March 2008. The right holder is Kusatsu Denki Co., Ltd.
