A town in Tagawa County in the central eastern part of Fukuoka Prefecture. The main settlement developed as a post town and a commercial center, and during the Edo period, the magistrate's office of the Kokura Domain was located here. There is a cement factory that uses limestone from Mt. Kahuran, and the Hitahikosan Line and Heisei Chikuho Railway pass through the town. 44.50 km2 . Population: 11,685 (2010). 福岡県中東部，田川郡の町。主集落は宿場町，商業中心地として発達，江戸時代には小倉藩の奉行所が置かれた。香春岳の石灰石によるセメント工場があり，日田彦山線，平成筑豊鉄道が通じる。44.50km2。１万1685人（2010）。
