Also known as Poiseuille's law. This law states that the volume Q of a fluid flowing through a thin circular tube (radius a, length l) per unit time is given by (Equation 1) where p 1 and p 2 are the pressures at both ends of the tube and η is the viscosity of the fluid. It was independently discovered by G. Hagen (1797-1884) in 1839 and J. L. Poiseuille (1799-1869) in 1840.
