A military commander who served the Qin Dynasty during the Warring States Period in China. He was born in Nobino, Hanzhong (southern Shaanxi Province). As a general of King Zhao, he defeated Wei at Yiqu in the 14th year of the reign of King Zhao (293 B.C.), defeated Chu in the 28th year of the reign, and occupied the Chu capital of Yanying. In the 30th year of the reign, he was appointed as the Prince of Wu'an for his achievements. He continued to attack various countries and occupied over 70 castles, achieving great success for the Qin Dynasty. He is particularly known for defeating the Zhao army led by General Zhao Kuo in the Battle of Changping (Shanxi Province) in the 47th year of the reign, and replacing the 400,000 or so surrendered soldiers.
