…His grandson, Akioki, led his family down to Yatsushiro-sho in Higo Province, where his uncle Yoshitaka had held the position of land steward, and thereafter became a central figure in the support of the Southern Court in Higo. In the latter half of the 15th century, due to internal strife within the family, Akitada sought the aid of Sagara Tametsugu, to whom he ceded the Kouda district (present-day Takada, Yatsushiro City). In the early 16th century, he was driven out of Yatsushiro Koro Castle, and was welcomed by the Uto clan, a relative of Uto Tamemitsu, after his death, and moved his base to Uto Castle in Nishiokadai, Uto (present-day Nishiokadai, Uto City). From then on, Yukioki called himself a member of the Uto clan and acted as a local lord in Higo. …
