Hebephrenia

Japanese: 破瓜病 - はかびょう(英語表記)hebephrenia
Hebephrenia
A type of schizophrenia. Its symptoms and progression were described in the late 19th century, and Emil Kraepelin soon identified it as a typical form of dementia praecox (later known as schizophrenia). It begins in adolescence, and patients become less active, emotionally blunted, and autistic. It is progressive, leading to a deterioration of the personality. Various symptoms such as delusions and hallucinations are rarely seen except during the short acute phase. There are also catatonic and paranoid types of schizophrenia.
