〘 noun 〙 Under the ritsuryo system, fields were provided to court ladies as a source of funds for their various expenses. In the Tambu-shiki's "Yoden-jo" (Article on Fields Provided), each county that provided court ladies with tribute was provided with three cho of fields, which were then made to be prepared by the county governor, chief clerk, or higher, and sent to the owner of the fields.
