The latest information is input and stored in real time from terminal devices installed in the medical institutions. This allows for a quick and appropriate response when an emergency team responding to an emergency scene asks about the response status of the medical institution that is scheduled to accommodate the patient. It also provides guidance to inquiries from the general public and medical institutions. In addition, in the event of a large-scale earthquake, the terminal devices are switched to disaster operation, and information such as operation status, number of injured people, and status of doctors and nurses from each medical institution in the affected area, and information such as the number of available beds and dispatch of doctors and nurses from medical institutions outside the affected area are input, and the information is provided to prefectures, fire departments, etc.

各都道府県ごとに設置された、救急医療に関する情報集約システムの一つ。コンピュータセンターと救急医療情報センター、医療機関、消防本部との間を通信回線で結んであり、消防本部による、救急隊の活動に対する側面支援として、救急患者を最適な医療機関へ収容するために必要な医療機関応需情報（診療科目、診療・手術の可否、男女別空きベッドの有無）を収集する。医療機関に設置してある端末装置から、リアルタイムで最新の情報を入力、蓄積する。これにより救急現場に出場中の救急隊から、収容予定の医療機関について応需状況の問合わせがあった場合、迅速かつ適正に応答できる。また、一般市民、医療機関等からの問合わせに対しても案内を行う。また大規模な地震発生時には端末装置が災害運用に切りかわり、被災地内の各医療機関からは稼働状況、傷病者数、医師・看護師要員の状況等の情報が、また被災地以外の医療機関からは受け入れ可能な病床数、医師・看護師の派遣などの情報が入力され、都道府県や消防機関等へ提供される。
