Kew Botanical Gardens

This is the Royal Botanic Gardens of the UK, located in Kew on the outskirts of London. It covers an area of 120 hectares and is said to be the largest in the world in terms of both size and facilities. When it was founded in 1759 it was only 8 hectares, but it was expanded under Director Banks and remains so to this day. During the British Empire era it was the hub of botanical gardens around the world, gathering a huge collection of specimens from all over the world, and successive generations of first-class botanists have served as directors. It has several large greenhouses, flower beds, a botanical taxonomy, lawns, a library, laboratories, and more, and has the world's largest collection of specimens. It has also published research reports, and the Catalogue of Plants of Kew is an essential reference for plant taxonomy.
