A Shingon Buddhist temple in Koya-cho, Wakayama Prefecture. It was built as a sub-temple in 1221 by Kamakura Zenni (Hojo Masako) on Mount Koya to pray for the soul of Minamoto no Sanetomo. The pagoda was built in 1223, and its pillars, walls, and nageshi (railings) are painted with Buddhist paintings. It is a valuable relic from the early Kamakura period and a national treasure. 和歌山県高野町にある真言宗の寺院。源実朝の菩提を弔うため,承久3 (1221) 年鎌倉禅尼 (北条政子) が高野山内に建立した子院。多宝塔は貞応2 (23) 年に建造され,柱,壁,長押 (なげし) などには彩色を施し,仏画を描いている。鎌倉時代前期の多宝塔として貴重な遺構で,国宝。
