Silk shrinkage - Kinuchijimi
〘Noun〙 A type of silk fabric. ① Silk crepe fabric. The warp is made of crepe and the weft is made of threads with a strong right or left twist. After weaving, the fabric is refined and shrunk, resulting in a fabric with vertical stripes different from crepe . It is mainly used for obiage and waist strings. ※Ukiyo-zoshi Danshoku-taika (1687), volume 8 "A beautiful woman's wide sleeves of silk crepe with a black jute obi" ② In Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture, from around the end of the Bunsei era (1818-30 ), a colloquial name for sukiya, a transparent twill woven from raw silk for the warp and ramie for the weft , based on the crepe fabric that was previously produced. This refers to a type of transparent twill that has been improved upon even today.

〘名〙 絹織物の一種。① 絹織の縮布。経(たていと)は縮緬(ちりめん)、緯(よこいと)は右縒り、あるいは左縒りの強い縒(よ)りをかけた糸を用いたもので、織りあげてから精練してしぼ出しを行なうと、縮緬とは異なった竪筋(たてすじ)をあらわす織物。主に帯揚げ、腰ひもなどに用いられる。※浮世草子・男色大鑑(1687)八「うるはしき女の絹縮(キヌチヂミ)の広袖に黒じゅすの前帯」② 新潟県十日町市で、文政(一八一八‐三〇)の末頃から、従来の産物であった縮布に基づき、経(たていと)には生糸、緯(よこいと)には苧麻(からむし)を用いて織り出した透綾(すきや)の俗称。現在でも改良を加えた透綾をいう。
