Cerebral syphilis

Syphilitic meningitis that appears in the second and third stages of syphilis. In the second stage, acute encephalitis symptoms such as fever, confusion, and delirium appear strongly, while in the third stage, other psychiatric symptoms such as dementia appear strongly and the patient is unable to think normally. Positive Wasserman reaction in blood and cerebrospinal fluid, and increased cells in cerebrospinal fluid are observed. Complete recovery is often not possible.

梅毒の第2期および第3期に現れる梅毒性の脳膜炎。第2期の場合は発熱，意識混濁，せん妄など急性の脳炎症状が強く出現し，第3期になると，ほかに痴呆などの精神症状が強く現れ，正常な思考ができなくなる。血液，脳脊髄液のワッセルマン反応陽性，脳脊髄液の細胞増加などがみられる。完治は期待できない場合が多い。
