Ibert

Japanese: イベール
Ibert
French composer. Born in Paris, he studied at the Paris Conservatoire. After serving as a naval officer in World War I, he returned to the school and won the Prix de Rome in 1919 for the cantata "The Poet and the Fairy." While studying in Rome, he released the symphonic suite "Port of Call" (1922), which established his foothold as a composer. He continued to produce witty and refined works, maintaining a solid style in line with the traditions of modern French music. His representative works include the piano suite "Narrative" (1922), "Divertimento" for chamber orchestra (1931), "Concerto for flute" (1932-1934), dedicated to Moyse, and "String Quartet" (1944). He also showed talent in film music. After World War II, he served as director of the Paris Opera, and became an Academician in 1956.
