1402‐72 Ruler of the Kingdom of Texcoco, which once existed in the Valley of Mexico. Also the greatest wise man and poet of ancient Mexico. His troubled path began when, at the age of 16, his father was assassinated by a servant of Tesozomoc of the Tepaneca. However, in 1428, together with the Aztecs, he defeated the Tepaneca, and in 1431 he reconquered Texcoco and took the throne. He formed a tripartite alliance with the Aztecs and others, and for the next 40 years his kingdom enjoyed great prosperity.
