The rebellion of the Chinese royal family Zhu Chenhao in the mid-Ming Dynasty. Zhu Chenhao, the fifth-generation grandson of Zhu Quan, the 17th son of Emperor Hongwu, succeeded him as King of Ning in 1497 and lived in Nanchang. The Ning family had been stripped of their guards for illegal activities during the Tianshun period (57-64), but they bribed the emperor's attendants to restore the guards. Later, taking advantage of the central government's relaxation, Zhu Chenhao made connections with corrupt officials, gathered a group of ruffians, seized the land and children of upstanding citizens, manufactured weapons, and waited for an opportunity to rise up in rebellion. However, in 1519, the government learned of the rebellion, and the government sent a punitive force, which was put down with the efforts of Wang Shouren (→Wang Yangming) and others.
