... There are about 50 species of Littorinidae in Japan, many of which live on rocks in the high tide zone. On the Pacific coast of Honshu (Kii Peninsula, etc.), Nodilittorina pyramidalis is found at the highest point in areas facing the open ocean, followed by N. exigua and N. millegrana , and then the Littorinidae are arranged in a band below. In Okinawa, Echininus cumingii spinulosus lives at the top.
