Located in northern Gunma Prefecture, it is a triangular basin surrounded by mountains such as Akagi, Hotaka, and Komochi. It stretches approximately 13 kilometers from east to west, 9 kilometers from north to south, and is around 300 to 600 meters above sea level. The Tone River on the west side is joined by the Katashina River and the Usune River. Several beautiful river terraces have developed, and Numata City is located on a terrace. Due to the clay layer below the terrace gravel layer, it is believed that the basin was once a lake. There are many mulberry and vegetable fields on the upper terrace surface, and rice paddies on the lower terrace surface. The climate is inland, and Gunma's famous dry winds do not blow.
