A movement of people who believe and practice living nude as the true way of life. The idea of placing importance on nudity already existed in ancient Greece and Rome, but it was Christianity that made nudity taboo in Europe. However, as early as the 13th century in Europe, some heretical sects began to preach and practice nude living as a "return to paradise." The first modern naturist movement was the "Nacktkultur" movement, which began in Germany in the early 20th century. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
