There are two families of early modern feudal lords. (1) They were originally from Isshiki, Mikawa, and called Isshiki, but later moved to Niwa County, Owari and changed their surname. They belonged to Oda Nobukatsu and had a fief of 7,000 koku in Ise Province, but after Nobukatsu was exiled, they served Tokugawa Ieyasu and moved to Musashi Province, where they were given 10,000 koku in Iho, Mikawa in 1600 (Keicho 5). They were later transferred to Iwamura, Mino, Takayanagi, Mimasaka and Kawachi Provinces, and Mikusa, Harima. (2) They were originally from Kodama, Musashi, and called Kodama, but later moved to Niwa County, Owari and changed their surname. Niwa Nagahide became a senior vassal of Oda Nobunaga, and his grandson Mitsushige settled in Nihonmatsu, Mutsu. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
