2,4‐D - 2,4‐D

Japanese: 2,4‐D - によんディー
2,4‐D - 2,4‐D
Phenoxyacetic acid herbicide. It is historically important as it was the first practical herbicide. It is also called 2,4-PA, which stands for 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid. In 1942, PW Zimmermann of the Boyce Thompson Laboratory in the United States, while investigating the auxin activity of synthetic auxins, discovered that 2,4-D exhibited strong auxin activity at low concentrations and herbicidal activity at high concentrations. This led to its development as a practical herbicide.
