Established in 1987 with the division and privatization of the Japanese National Railways. Commonly known as JR Freight. Japan's only nationwide railway freight transport company, transporting freight on 84 routes totaling 9,563 km, mainly using the tracks of JR companies throughout Hokkaido to Kyushu. Promoting rationalization to become more competitive with truck transport.
