Established in 1987 with the division and privatization of the Japanese National Railways. Commonly known as JR Freight. Japan's only nationwide railway freight transport company, transporting freight on 84 routes totaling 9,563 km, mainly using the tracks of JR companies throughout Hokkaido to Kyushu. Promoting rationalization to become more competitive with truck transport. Profits have increased due to the shift to rail in response to truck regulations and favorable sales of rental office buildings. Headquarters in Tokyo. Capital in 2011 was 19 billion yen, and sales for the fiscal year ending March 2011 were 135.3 billion yen.
