Fakhr al-Dawla (English spelling)

...Mu'izz al-Dawla bestowed 'iqta' on soldiers in the Sawad region of Iraq in lieu of salary, becoming the first person in Islamic history to implement the military 'iqta' system. The dynasty reached its peak during the reigns of Adud al-Dawla and Fakhr al-Dawla (950-997), but the Buyid dynasty's territory was broadly divided into four regions: Fars, Kerman, Jibar, and Iraq, each ruled by a different royal family, and the relationships between them varied and were complex depending on the era. Arabic was the official language of the court, and it was a period of prosperity for Arabic literature, with the emergence of figures such as Isbahani, who compiled the Book of Songs.
