A samurai family in the Satsuma region from the end of the Heian period to the Muromachi period. A branch of the Satsuma Heishi clan. In the late Heian period, Tadanaga Ewa, the second son of Tadanaga, who ruled over Satsuma County, Ewa County, and other areas of Satsuma Province, inherited Ibusuki County and became the ancestor of the Ibusuki clan. For generations, he held the positions of Ibusuki County governor and Hirakiki Shingu Shrine chief priest. After Tadanaga, Tadamoto and Tadahide passed the title on to him. Tadahide was killed in a dispute with the local lord Shimazu Tadatsuna around 1234 (Bunreki 1), but the Kamakura shogunate gave half of his estate to his younger brother Tadanari and his adopted son Shigehide. However, the title was later passed on to Tadanari's son Tadataka (Munetada) and grandson Tadaatsu (Nariyoshi). Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
