Nanrei - Nanrei

Japanese: 南嶺 - なんれい
Nanrei - Nanrei

A mountain range in southern China that separates Central and Southern China. It stretches 1,000 km from east to west along the border between Hunan and Jiangxi provinces in the north and Guangdong and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the south, forming the watershed between the Yangtze River (Changjiang) and Pearl River systems. It is also called the Five Mountains, a collective name for five independent mountain ranges: Yuecheng, Dupou, Mengzhu, Qitian, and Daya. The average elevation is low, about 1,000 meters. The valleys and passes of these mountains have long been used as transportation routes between the north and south, such as the Meiling Road and Shuling Road. It is rich in forest and underground resources, and is the world's largest producer of tungsten.
