A former town in Minaminaka District, southern Miyazaki Prefecture. Facing the Hyuga Nada Sea, including Okino-Oshima Island. The town is primarily involved in agriculture and fishing, with tuna and bonito fishing thriving in Tonoura and Meitsu. The Nichinan Line runs through the town. In March 2009, it was incorporated into Kitago Town, Minaminaka District, and Nichinan City. Area: 63.17 km2 .
