…It is a special corporation established in 1974 under the Japan International Cooperation Agency Act, with the Japan Overseas Technical Cooperation Agency (established in 1962), the Japan Overseas Emigration Agency (established in 1963), and others as its parent organizations. Its objectives are to carry out (1) the implementation of technical cooperation in developing regions and the promotion of youth overseas cooperation activities (Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers), (2) the smooth supply of funds necessary for social development in developing regions and other areas, as well as agricultural, forestry, and mining and industrial development, which are difficult to obtain from the Japan Export-Import Bank and the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund, and to provide technology in conjunction with these developments, and (3) the smooth implementation of overseas emigration to regions such as Latin America.
