Graduated from the medical department of Tokyo Imperial University, he taught pathology as a professor at Fukuoka Medical College, the predecessor of Kyushu University's Faculty of Medicine, while studying the actual state of Yayoi culture through research on ruins and artifacts in Kitakyushu. He calculated the relative age of ruins from bronze artifacts, and revealed that in the Yayoi period, society was based on rice farming, that bronze artifacts and polished stone tools were used, and that Western Han mirrors and Wang Mang coins were imported from China. He also conducted detailed research on exchanges with China. Source: Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia About Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia Information |
