...The Engishiki Shinmeicho lists Hachiman Daibosatsu Usa Shrine, Hime Shrine, and Oobihimebyo Shrine (all of which are famous shrines), and it has been the Ichinomiya of Buzen Province since the Heian period. It is believed that there was a Usa (Hime) deity worshiped by Usatsuhiko and Usatsuhime, whose names are recorded in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, but the Fuso Ryakki and Hachiman Usa Shrine Oracle Collection say that in the 32nd year of the reign of Emperor Kinmei, Ogami Higi worshiped Emperor Konda Hirohata Hachimanmaro at the oracle. Hachiman was enshrined at Takaise Shrine, which was founded in 712 (Wadō 5), and later moved to Oyamada Shrine, and the shrine building was built on the current Ogurayama mountain in 725 (Jinki 2).

…《延喜式》神名帳には〈八幡大菩薩宇佐宮〉〈比売神社〉〈大帯姫廟神社〉(ともに名神大社)とあり，平安時代から豊前国の一宮でもあった。　《古事記》《日本書紀》に名の記される宇佐津彦，宇佐津姫のまつる宇佐(比売)神があったとみられるが，《扶桑略記》《八幡宇佐宮御託宣集》などには，欽明32年に大神比義（おおがのひぎ）が託宣により誉田天皇広幡八幡麻呂を奉斎したとある。八幡神は712年(和銅5)創立の鷹居瀬社にまつられ，のち小山田社に移り，725年(神亀2)現在の小倉山に社殿が造られた。…
