A town in Sorachi County in central Hokkaido. It occupies the center of the Furano Basin, and the Furano Line runs through it. There are hilly mountain ranges to the east and west, but the center is a wide plain with rice paddies and farmland. 北海道中央部，空知(そらち)郡の町。富良野盆地の中央部を占め，富良野線が通じる。東と西に丘陵性の山地があるが，中心部は広い平地で，水田と畑が開ける。米，ジャガイモ，タマネギなどを産し，畜産も行う。108.65km2。5477人（2010）。
