X-ray spectroscopy is mainly used to analyze elements with large atomic numbers, such as metals. In X-ray emission analysis, atoms in a sample material are excited by irradiating them with an accelerated electron beam, and analysis is performed using the spectrum of the characteristic X-rays they emit. Because a relationship known as Moseley's law exists between the wavelength of the characteristic X-rays and the atomic number, the atomic number of the atoms in the sample material can be determined from the measured wavelength. …
