A watertight partition inside a ship is called a watertight bulkhead, and the deck adjacent to the top of the bulkhead is called a bulkhead deck. As shown in the figure, watertight bulkheads are usually called transverse bulkheads and are installed to create several watertight compartments along the length of the ship, but in tankers, tanks are further arranged in two or three rows by longitudinal bulkheads.
