Nakanoguchi [Village] - Nakanoguchi

Japanese: 中之口[村] - なかのくち

A village in Nishikanbara County, central Niigata Prefecture. Population 6,649 (1995). It is located in the alluvial plain on the west bank of the Nakanokuchi River, a branch of the Shinano River, in the central Echigo Plain. Farmland was developed between 1953 and 1960, and the area is known as a pioneer in large-scale mechanized rice farming. Fruit cultivation, particularly grapes, is thriving along the Nakanokuchi River in the east. It is also a source of labor for the Western-style tableware industry in neighboring Tsubame City, and subcontracting factories have set up in the village. The Hokuriku Expressway and Joetsu Shinkansen run through the village, and it is close to Makigata Higashi Interchange and Tsubame-Sanjo Station.

新潟県中部，西蒲原（にしかんばら）郡の村。人口6649(1995)。越後平野中部，信濃川の分流中ノ口川西岸沖積地にある。1953‐60年に圃場整備が行われ，大型機械化稲作農業の先進地域として知られる。東部の中ノ口川沿岸はブドウを中心とした果樹栽培が盛ん。隣接する燕市の洋食器工業の労働力供給地でもあり，村内にも下請工場が進出している。村内を北陸自動車道と上越新幹線が縦断し，巻潟東インターチェンジや燕三条駅にも近い。
