Kabuki Kyogen. Joruri domestic drama. 6 acts. Commonly known as "Osono Rokusa" and "Sanseisou". Written by Sakurada Jisuke III. First performed at the Edo Nakamuraza in July 1857 (Ansei 4). All acts feature Tokiwazu Bungo Daijo (Tokiwazu Mojitayu 4th), Tokiwazu Komonjitayu, shamisen player Kishizawa Koshikibu 4th (Kishizawa Shikisa 5th), and Kishizawa Shikisa 6th. The cast includes Kataoka Gato II as Osono, Ichikawa Sarusaburo as Fukushimaya Seibei, Seki Utasuke as Kajino Choan, Arashi Koroku 5 as Fukukiyo's wife Okaji, Sawamura Netsusho II as Rokusaburo, and others. The incident in March 1749 (Kan'en 2) in which Osono, a prostitute employed by the Fukushimaya family in the south shinyashiki of Osaka, and Rokusaburo, a carpenter from Daihoji-cho, committed suicide was dramatized as Yaegasumi Minaniwa no Hamaogi at the Toyotakeza Theater in the same month, and although it has been rewritten in various ways since then, this work is a type of Edo-style sewa-joruri that aims for originality with its unusual plot.
