An old town in Kuwana County, northern Mie Prefecture. It occupies a low, humid ring-shaped area between the Kiso River and the Nagara River, which flow into Ise Bay, and has water houses and creeks. Nagashima, in the center, is an old castle town famous for the Nagashima Ikki (Ikko Ikki), and is served by the Kansai Main Line, the Tomei-Osaka Expressway, National Route 1, and the Kintetsu Nagoya Line. Rice, vegetable cultivation, and seaweed farming are thriving. Nagashima Onsen (simple alkaline spring, 60°C) at the southern end is a recreational spot in the Chukyo region. In December 2004, it was incorporated into Tado Town, Kuwana County, and Kuwana City. 31.73 km2 .
