Japanese: 長井[市] - ながい

A city occupying the Nagai Basin in the northwest of the Yonezawa Basin in southern Yamagata Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1954. The central city area consists of two districts, Koide and Miya, and developed as a river port on the Mogami River. The Yamagata Railway Flower Nagai Line runs through the city. There are large spinning and weaving factories and electrical appliance factories, hop cultivation, sake brewing, and Nagai Tsumugi (Yonezawa Tsumugi) is a specialty of the city. There are many famous flower spots within the city, including Senbonzakura on the banks of the Mogami River, White Azalea Park, Iris Park, and Hagi Park. Area: ^{214.67 km2} . 山形県南部，米沢盆地北西部にあたる長井盆地を占める市。1954年市制。中心市街は小出，宮の２地区からなり，最上川の河港として発達した。山形鉄道フラワー長井線が通じる。紡織，電気器具の大工場があり，ホップ栽培，酒造が行われ，長井紬(つむぎ)（米沢紬）を特産。市内には最上川堤防の千本桜，白ツツジ公園，アヤメ公園，ハギ公園など花の名所が多い。214.67km²。２万9473人（2010）。
