Jutaro Iwami

Japanese: 岩見重太郎 - いわみじゅうたろう
Jutaro Iwami

Date of birth and death unknown. A hero of the Momoyama period. The son of Iwami Jubei, a retainer of the Kobayakawa family of Chikuzen (Fukuoka Prefecture), he served the Toyotomi family after killing his father's enemy, Hirose Gunzo, and was killed in battle during the Summer Siege of Osaka in 1615 (Genwa 1). There is a theory that he is the same as Susukida Hayato Kanesuke, who gained fame in the same battle, but this is not reliable. In storytelling and reading books (such as "Iwami Hero Records"), he travels around the country as a warrior, fighting off baboons and bandits until he takes revenge at Amanohashidate, and is also depicted in kabuki.
